Pep Guardiola is known for spending big on his top transfer targets at almost every club he has been and Manchester City has been no different. The Spaniard has already spent on Bernardo Silva and is sure to splash more cash this summer but reports emerged that he is looking to sign an unknown Mexican talent to propel his club next season.
International news outfit Goal reported that Manchester City are closing in on a deal with Hirving Lozano, the winger making headlines in Mexico. Currently playing for CF Pachuca, the 21-year old is regarded as one of the most exciting youngsters in world football and it was reported that the English giants were ready to spend on him, and loan him back to Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven this summer.
However, Pachuca vice-president Andres Fassi told ESPN Mexico on Friday. “The dealings we have had and have (are with) four clubs and City doesn’t have anything to do with it.” It is also suggested that the youngster could be on the move this summer to a big club, so should City actually be interested?
A left winger by trait, Lozano is a youth player at the Pachuca Academy and grew into the spotlight in 2015 with an eventful season in the domestic arena. He has 31 goals in 120 appearances for the club and has gained international experience with 15 caps for the Mexico national side.
An incredibly hard working player who never gives up, Lozano is one of the quickest players not just in his country but all over Europe. He is a decent dribbler who knows how to go past his man but prefers to cut inside and create space for himself in front of goal.
His strength is finding space in the final third and this makes him a dangerous player for any club to have in their attack. He has a deadly shot that can beat the best of the keepers and though he needs to work on his defending, is a huge asset to have.
At his age, he is only going to get better and belongs at the highest stage and missing out on him, after being linked to him might come back to haunt the Citizens. City cannot have him anywhere near the first team next season and Lozano might be searching for a club who can provide him ample game time. So Guardiola has to act quickly to snap up this Mexican starlet before his rivals do.
