Newcastle United have reportedly tabled an offer for Metz forward Ismaila Sarr. The Magpies have been very active in the transfer market as Rafa Benitez has been searching for players to bolster his side next season. The Toons have lifted the Championship title and are back in the top tier after missing only a season. Sarr’s rise to fame for the French side has attracted a number of suitors but Newcastle United have reportedly made a £10.4m bid for the winger.
Benitez will be hoping to add some wide men in the summer as he would be short of options as both Yoan Gouffran and Sammy Ameobi are expected to leave St James Park. Putting Sarr in the side would invite healthy competition amongst the side which already have the likes of Matt Ritchie and Christian Atsu with the latter signed for them permanently recently.
Matz are demanding in the tune of £13m for the service of the player who has been widely appreciated for his performances in the Ligue 1. The left winger has scored five goals and provided as many assists in the French top tier. The 19-year-old joined the French club from Senegal and could be the next big thing in English football if he gets enough chances.
Basically, a left winger the player can also be deployed on the opposite wing and thus he could give a whole lot of options for Benitez. In this tender age, he already has six appearances for the Senegal senior side which is very commendable. He has been compared to his fellow international teammate Sadio Mane and if he does arrive, he will go face to face with him in the match Vs Liverpool.
Lille are also reportedly tracking the player. The French club wants to hijack the player to the club but Benitez surely wouldn’t let this happen. The Spaniard is a tough nut to crack and Newcastle United are looking favourites to land the player. The Magpies would be looking for a strong finish in the next season and for that Benitez wants a series of players to be bought. Sarr pledged to a five-year deal at the time of his signing last summer but sufficient money would definitely tempt Metz to sell him.
The fact that Sarr was a hit in his first season could be the highlight of his career point. His raw talent could be the reason Benitez chooses to bring him to St James Park as he can mould him to a better player as he has done with lots of players.
