Manchester United have joined the pursuit of Lazio forward Keita Balde Diao. The Senegalese forward has been a rage in the Serie A as the 22-year-old has netted 16 goals for Lazio in the recently concluded season.
Balde had a stupendous season for the Serie A side and is expected to leave the club after having a breakthrough season for them. He has a year left on his current contract but it can be assumed that he is not going to sign a new contract which makes him a very viable option for any club.
Balde is a product of the famous La Masia academy but made a move to Lazio at the tender age of 16. He has been with the club since then but his chances of remaining at the club are very bleak.
A number of clubs including Liverpool have expressed their interest in the young attacker. Jurgen Klopp has taken a personal look into the player’s development and the Reds might make a move for him. The English club also enquired about him when Brendan Rodgers was in charge but no offer was made that time. But this time the Reds are looking pretty serious about him and necessary steps have been taken regarding his transfer.
Predominantly the player loves to operate from the left flank and he can be used anywhere across the front three. Jose Mourinho has been searching various options to bolster his team and Keita could be one of them. The Portuguese is rumoured to have submitted his transfer list to United CEO as a part of the squad overhaul next season and we expect at least a few of them to be at Old Trafford next season.
The Red Devils will be playing in the Champions League next season and Mourinho wants to build a team capable of winning Europe’s elite tournament. United last won the tournament in 2008 but the Portuguese gaffer wants to repeat the feat once again.
Balde will be moving into his last year of contract so the Biancoceleste might feel this is time to make a good deal for the player. Balde’s attacking attributes are very encouraging. The youngster has the pace and skill to thrive in the Premier League and also will add more variety to the side with his versatility.
United are yet to make any signings in this summer. Instead of some high profile signing, Balde would be a suitable move for them as it would be a good bargain buy.
