Manchester United ended their current season on a high by winning the UEFA Europa League for the first time in their history. This has enabled them to compete in the Champions League next season, despite their dismal sixth position finish in the Premier League recently.
The Red Devils are well aware of the fact that they will have to face some of the best teams in Europe in the Champions League next season and are already looking to make a team strong enough to help United take them head on. Jose Mourinho, the present man in charge at Old Trafford has been looking to bring in a number of new faces, and one of the names high on his wish list is that of the Brazilian defender Fabinho.
The versatile right-back, who can also play as a defensive midfielder, has been in good form of late. He has attracted a considerable amount of interest from a number of big name clubs from all over Europe, including Manchester United, owing to his brilliant performances in the recently concluded season with Monaco.
He has been instrumental for the French Ligue 1 side, who went on to become the champions of France and also were able to make it to the semi-final of the Champions League.
Fabinho can be an ideal player for the Red Devils, who have found a world of difficulty in their defensive areas, given the injuries to a number of their players. Mourinho has been looking to rebuild the side for the next season and has found the Brazilian ace as a viable option for the right back position.
Their current right back, Antonio Valencia, has been in superb form this season and has been handed a contract extension of one more season. However, he is now 31 years of age and they need to find a good replacement for him, which they might have found in the young Brazilian from Monaco.
Fabinho is known for his darting runs down the right-hand side and has the ability to deliver deadly crosses into the attacking third for his teammates to take advantage of. He also can launch long range efforts form the distance, unsettling the opposition goalkeeper. The brilliant Brazilain is also known for his amazing dribbling skills and daft footwork that makes him a prized possession for his team.
Reportedly, the Monaco ace has denied extending his contract and might be on his way to the Old Trafford this summer. So will he improve United’s chances next season?
