Manchester City have been known for their grave interest in Arsenal players and in the not so distant past, there have been quite a few players who have made their way out of the North London club to join the Manchester outfit, including the likes of Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna and Samir Nasri. Reportedly, another name which might be added to this list is that of the Arsenal talisman Alexis Sanchez, who might be on his way to the Etihad Stadium in the summer.
However, it might not only be the Chilean to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer. Speculations are rife that the Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has got his eye fixed on the Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and might bring him into his squad for the next term along with Sanchez.
Reportedly, the English midfielder has already been pursued by the close rivals of the North London club, Liverpool, who already had a bid rejected for the youngster this summer. The player himself is also not finding it conducive to stay back at the Emirates Stadium and might be on the go as soon as the transfer window opens on July 1st.
Sources suggest that the Arsenal winger, who has been playing as a wing back in the latter half of the last season according to the new formation that has been implemented by Arsene Wenger, is not looking to extend his contract to stay back at his current club and has attracted lot of interests from a number of other clubs including arch rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.
Reportedly, defending Premier League champions Chelsea are also in contention to bring in the 23-year-old midfielder, who likes to play in the central midfield more than as a wingback, to strengthen their side for the next term. The Blues coach Antonio Conte is well aware of the abilities of the “Ox”, the nickname for the robust midfielder and has been much impressed with him for some time now.
The Gunners are almost set to lose their talisman Sanchez to Manchester City, however, are trying their level best to tie him down at the Emirates. There is also an outward possibility that the Chilean might end up at the Allianz Arena in the next season, with German Champions Bayern Munich looking to bring in the player for the next season as well.
Now, with the possibility of Chamberlain also leaving them in the next season, the Gunners are compelled to look into the transfer market in search of players who can fill in the void left by influential players.
