Kylian Mbappe is definitely the most sought after 18-year-old in the world at the moment, with the wave of news he is creating with his every movement, like a single nod of a head, smiling at a question, following a twitter page and much more. He has the likes of Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester United and more dancing at his whims.
Definitely the hottest summer prospect in the transfer window and most probably one of the first names to enter the £100 million club, The Frenchman has got yet another suitor added to the list in Liverpool FC. If reports are to be believed, then Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has already made contact, this time with the player’s representatives for a change, to let his intention known of signing the player this summer.
The Reds have apparently been keeping tabs on the 18-year-old for almost a year now and like most other clubs, they too are an admirer of the player. New Ligue 1 Champions, AS Monaco, has certain players who they want to retain for the next season, and their phenomenal striker definitely tops that list.
However, that hasn’t stopped clubs like Real Madrid and Arsenal from initiating a bid for the player as they are willing to pay more than £100 million for his services. And Liverpool are also highly unlikely to splurge that kind of amount for a single player. Although, Virgil van Dijk’s pursuit did reflect some real intent on part of the Merseyside club, paying such astronomical fee for a player in not a Liverpool thing at all.
Klopp has apparently held preliminary talks with the player’s representatives and after the international duties get over, concrete movements are expected. Despite not being among the richest footballing sides around the world, Anfield is definitely one of the best places for young players for stepping up to the next level, and it is the only lure that can land Mbappe this summer.
The teenager managed to score 26 goals and provide 14 assists in all competitions for Monaco last season, helping them reach the Champions League semi-finals and win the domestic title in the process. His unstoppable runs on the right flank have mesmerised many and Klopp sees him as the perfect addition to his attacking line-up alongside Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi and Sadio Mane.
His breakthrough season last term has seen him get a national call-up in February and he is likely to face England on Tuesday in the international friendly. A host of scouts is expected to monitor him then. But, as unlikely a deal this may look, he could be a season changer for the Reds.
