Liverpool have made their way back into the Champions League, with a finish in the top four last term in their Premier League campaign. The Reds are now looking to rebuild their side for the next season, which is going to involve clashes against some of the best teams in Europe.
The current Liverpool coach has been keen to bring players into his squad who have performed well for their respective clubs throughout the recent season. One such player is Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain, from close Premier League rivals Arsenal, who has been playing for some time as a wing back on the right flank for the Gunners.
Though the England international has been playing well in his new position, he has recently expressed his desire to play in a central midfield role and make a mark for his team. Liverpool might help him play in his natural position, as they are looking to bring someone in to stabilise their midfield, at the heart of it.
It has been reported that the young English midfielder has been valued at a hefty £40 million by the Gunners for any potential suitors to bid for him this summer, which might be a turnoff for the Red. However, Jurgen Klopp, the man in charge at Anfield this season, does not want to miss out on this move under any circumstances, having found no success till now in his pursuit of the Roma winger Mohammad Salah.
The Arsenal midfielder has looked good in the international arena as well and has scored in England’s 2-2 draw against Scotland recently. He was deployed in the midfield by the England coach and evidently had a good game, keeping a continuous supply of balls into the attacking third.
Arsenal have been looking to keep the England international for the next season as well, as he has nearly twelve months left on his contract at the Emirates Stadium. Reportedly, a meeting has already been held between Arsenal and Chamberlain’s representatives, who are looking to make it quick for their client to decide about his long future with the Gunners.
As per sources, the North London club are ready to offer a pay hike to the England international to stay back with them in the next season as well, ignoring any further interest from Liverpool or any other club.
