Leeds United have failed to qualify for the Championship playoffs this season, causing an unrest among the fans about the late goof-up’s that led to the Whites finishing in the seventh position to end their season. In addition to that, they had to make way for their influential manager Garry Monk, who left his job at the end of this season.
However, the followers of the Elland Road team are hopeful that the new season is going to bring them glory. Leeds United have already started their pursuit for new players to be brought into the side to strengthen it, especially the midfield, which has been a major concern for the Whites.
In revamping their squad, Leeds United are looking to bring in players from other Championship sides. One such player, who can be a crucial one in energising the midfield for the Whites is Jonny Howson from Norwich City, termed as one of the most influential players for the Canaries this season.
The 29 year old midfielder has been one of the players to watch out for in the Championship this season, and has played a pivotal role in the midfield for the Canaries throughout the recently concluded term. He has played 39 matches for Norwich this season and has scored six goals to show for his efforts. He also has assisted his teammates to score goals seven times throughout the season and has been instrumental in the midfield for his club.
Leeds United have been trying their level best to make it to the Championship playoffs this season and had been somewhat successful to attain their objective as well, however, lost their footing right at the end of the season to finish on the seventh position, thus ending their chances to make it into the top six of the Championship.
This has, however, by far made the Whites stronger in their resolution to make it into the top six for the next season and they are looking for players like Jonny Howson to lead them out of the woes in the midfield. The England international has been at the top of his form in the current season and will certainly look to make it a good one in the next season as well.
However, the Norwich City midfielder might find it hard to resist to the call of the Premier League, which he might receive very soon, with Burnley looking to make a bid for him in the summer as well. So it goes without saying that it will be tough for Leeds to get Howson in their ranks.
