Hull City ended their last season in the Premier League in disastrous fashion by getting relegated to the Championship. The Tigers are looking to make amends for the this and are looking to play well this season so that they can make a comeback into the Premier League.
Hull City have got a new manager in the form of Leonid Slutsky, and the new boss is already looking to bring in reinforcements to strengthen his line-up for the next season. One of the names which is right on the top of the priority list for him is that of the Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield.
The Canadian has been playing well for the Clarets since his arrival at the club in 2013. He has been instrumental in the midfield for Burnley and is known to be one of the most highly rated players of the team.
The 28-year-old has been targeted by a number of clubs, who want to bag him for the next season, including the likes of Burnley, West Bromwich Albion and Fulham. Arfield has made 37 appearances in all competitions for his team in the last season and has also scored one goal to show for his efforts in the central midfield for the Clarets.
Reportedly, the 28-year-old Canadian player has been valued at £2.5 million by his current club, but they have no intention to leave him in the summer. However, the influential midfielder has only a single year left on his contract at Turf Moor and has yet not been offered any new contract from Burnley as of yet.
As per sources, though Arfield has made 159 appearances for Burnley and has scored 32 goals in the Championship as well as the Premier League, it is his impeccable performance in the seasons prior to the last one, where he scored 16 goals in two years in the Championship and inspired his team to an entry in the Premier League.
It is very unlikely that the Clarets will be letting go off their prized possession in the next season, given that he has been an integral part of the team for a considerable amount of time. The Canadian will also probably not be looking to make a move out of Turf Moor in the upcoming season unless there is a Premier League side calling.
However, Slutsky has been eyeing the midfielder to be a part of his team for the next season and looking to pair him with the likes of Alfred N’Diaye and Lazar Markovic, who have come back into the team.
