The world has turned into a whole new alluring place for Huddersfield Town after they clinched a promotion to the Premier League. Under the tutelage of David Wagner, the Terries carved a spectacular season in the Championship and courtesy their emphatic play-off final win over Reading at Wembley, they returned to the English top flight after an absence of 45 long years.
The snapshots of euphoria and grins amongst the Huddersfield Town faithful, players and the manager are rivetingly intriguing and quite rightly so. Their relentless toil, endurance and perseverance have yielded them arguably their best output in decades and it goes without saying that they would be keen to erect a strong footing for themselves in the Premier League next season as they lock horns against the elite clubs of the country.
However, as the hangover of drums and music ceases to exist, Wagner is believed to have started to do the requisite chores for the upcoming campaign and to beef up the quality of his squad, he has put Leeds United’s brutally ruthless goal-getter in the shape of Chris Wood on his radar. Wood has become the talk of the town after inking a stellar campaign with the Whites and it is perceived that the Kirklees Stadium is anticipating his arrival and the move could certainly be the impetus they would need next season to refrain from getting into the relegation dogfight.
The 25-year-old banged 27 goals and registered 4 assists to his name in 44 Championship appearances last season and despite the failure of Garry Monk in making the West Yorkshire based club in crossing the line, the New Zealand international was one of their silver linings. Undeniably, Wood single-handedly (almost) catered to the goal scoring demands of the club and what was particularly appealing to see is the fact that he was thoroughly reliable and consistent in doing the needful.
The former Leicester City goal machine is a polished poacher, who is clinical, sharp and crisp in movements with and without the ball, always intends to create havoc in the opposition’s defence with his shrewd abilities of reading the game and is a meticulous striker who could be a lethal addition to the offensive arsenal of Wagner. Besides, he has shown his calibre in the Championship and at this point of his career, he is seemingly likely to step up further for new adventures and intend to ply his trade amidst the animosity of Premier League.
