Huddersfield Town have been the newest entrant into the Premier League for the next season, winning the Championship play-off final against Reading, beating them by 4-3 on penalties after a goalless draw in the stipulated and then extra time as well. Now the Terriers are on their way to raid the Royals in the upcoming transfer market as well, in order to bag their USA international Danny Williams for the next season.
The 28-year-old will be the first significant summer signing for Huddersfield Town after they have clinched promotion to top flight football. Reading will be letting go of their midfielder on a free transfer after a denial came from the latter’s side to pen down a new contract to stay back at the Majedski Stadium in the next season.
The USA ace has been an integral part of the Reading side since his arrival at the club in 2013 and his contract is due to end this month, after which he becomes a free agent. However, with the interest of Huddersfield Town to sign the midfield enforcer for the next season, it has become almost sure that the 28-year-old will be a part of the Terriers’ squad, which will be playing in the Premier League for the first time since 1972.
The defensive midfielder has been instrumental for his club season after season and has played a pivotal role in a central position. He has played 156 games overall for the team from West Yorkshire and has scored 14 goals throughout his tenure with the Championship club. He has been one of the most highly rated players in a central position and is expected to play a big role in the next Premier League season if Huddersfield Town have to get some positive results on their side.
Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner is supposed to be busy this summer and has already started making inroads into the market. He has reportedly made an offer for Manchester City attacker Aaron Mooy which is worth £10 million, to which the Premier League club have agreed and might also bring in his teammate Patrick Roberts on loan, who spent his last term on loan at the Celtic Park, helping the Hoops bag the Scottish Premiership trophy for a record 48th time in their history.
Wagner has been a big admirer of the abilities of the USA international Williams and is sure that it is going to be a big opportunity for the player to play in the Premier League.
