The transfer market is still almost a month away but that has not stopped teams from scouting for their top transfer targets. A number of European giants were alerted recently after German sensation Max Meyer decided to reject a contract extension with his current club Schalke.
The 21-year old Schalke academy product has already made more than 100 Bundesliga appearances and also has four caps for the German national side. He has decided that he wants to play for a bigger club and is now one of the most wanted stars in Europe.
A number of clubs, even in England, will now be looking at him as a possible option for the next season but where will Meyer really go? Here are three clubs where the German starlet can ply his trade next season:
Tottenham Hotspur:
With Mauricio Pochettino’s recruitment model working wonders, Meyer could be the next in the list of many youngsters who are impressing at the White Hart Lane. Eric Lamela may get his first team spot back next season but Heung Min-Son is the only other option and Meyer could easily work his way into the first team. At 21, there are very few clubs of that stature ready to offer first team football and he should look at the Lane as a possible destination.
Liverpool:
Having started his career at Schalke, Meyer has now decided to move on for greater challenges but he is still 21 and needs to be nurtured. Who better than the German talisman Jurgen Klopp? The former Borussia Dortmund manager is at an exciting stage in his time at Anfield and he will jump at a chance of landing one of the most highly rated players in his homeland. First team chances may be hard to come by in Liverpool but Meyer is a star player and if he can impress Klopp, he is definitely climbing the pecking order in just a season.
PSG:
The French outfit have been looking at the 21-year old for more than a year now and now that he has finally accepted that he will move on, PSG are sure to circle him in days to come. His attributes and technique make him an attractive player and playing in a less competitive league like the Ligue 1, he may be able to help his intentional career as well. The French outfit will also offer a tasty financial package which could be extra motivation.
