Everton ended a topsy-turvy season and despite finishing in the 7th spot, got a chance to ply their trade in the Europa League and though the second half of the season showed that they underachieved, Koeman has got a nice springboard for the future. The Merseyside club is now eyeing to turn the results in their favour and are looking to bring in players who can help them in their pursuit of a better outcome in terms of results in the forthcoming days.
Among a number of players who have been linked with the Toffees for the next season, the Spanish midfield star from Championship side Brentford, Jota, has been one name right on top of their priority list. The 25-year-old has been one of the players to watch out for in the last season in the Championship after returning from a loan stint at the Spanish La Liga side Eibar in January.
The Brentford star has been at the peak of his form, playing 27 games for his club since his return from La Liga and has scored 12 goals to show for his efforts. His superb run in the recent times has attracted a lot of interest from quite a few clubs in the Premier League apart from Everton, namely West Ham United and the newly promoted Newcastle United.
Jota is known for his darting runs into the heart of the opposition defence and also his dribbling, causing a world of problems to the opponent defenders. He also has the ability to release shots on goals, both from long range as well as short distances. He is also one of the players who has a good sense of dominating the proceedings with great ball control and keeping lion’s share of the possession with him.
Everton have been facing a world of problems in keeping hold of their star players like Romelu Lukaku, who is almost destined for his former club and current Premier League champions Chelsea in the next season, and Ross Barkley, with the English midfielder not agreeing to put pen to paper on a new contract with the Toffees for the next season.
In this precarious situation, Ronald Koeman, the man in charge at Goodison Park might probably look to bring in someone with the calibre of Jota to enhance his team’s stability in the midfield during the summer transfer window.
Reportedly, Brentford has valued their prized possession at £8 million, which might not be a problem for the Toffees to splash out to secure the services of the player for the next season.
