Everton have made a strong start to their summer transfer market, and have already bagged two top class players in the form of Davy Klaassen from Ajax and Jordan Pickford from last season’s relegated side Sunderland. The Toffees are not looking to stop at this and are looking to bring in striker Sandro Ramirez from Malaga to strengthen their attack as well.
Ronald Koeman has been much worried that he might not be able to get his midfield marshal Ross Barkley in the team for the next season owing to the fact that the English international has not agreed to sign a new deal with the Merseyside club and is just 12 months away from seeing the end of his contract at Goodison Park. This has prompted the Dutch mastermind to look for options to replace his midfield ace and the one on the top of his wish list is the Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Sigurdsson has been one of the most desired players for the head coach of Everton, who has been looking to make him his prime target for the summer transfer window. Reportedly, the Merseyside club have also put a bid of £30 million on the table to make the influential midfielder a part of his line-up in the next season. However, it has been nullified by the Swans, who are of the opinion that their prized possession is worth much more than what has been put forward by the Toffees.
As per sources, Leicester City have also been on the trail of the Iceland international and are looking to make a bid to bag him for the forthcoming season. However, the Welsh club have already said that it is not very much clear to them as well what should they prompt as the right price to bid for their mainstay in the midfield. However, it has surfaced that they have demanded at least £40 million as a bid for Sigurdsson in the summer.
Koeman, with the option of Ajax midfielder Klaassen already by his side, should not be much worried about the departure of Barkley from the side in the next season.
However, when it comes to the experience of playing in the Premier League, it might be a big factor that will not go in favour of the ex-captain of a young Ajax side, and this is where Sigurdsson comes into play for the Merseyside club, who might turn out to be a significant signing for the Toffees in place of Barkley.
