Chelsea are eyeing Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci and are ready to offer Nemanja Matic as a part of the deal. Antonio Conte is ready to table a bid of £48m for the Italian defender.
Bonucci has gone on to prove his mettle both for the Italian national team and Juventus and has established himself as one of the most versatile Italian defenders in Europe currently. Since Antonio Conte took over charge at Chelsea he had been trying to bring the player to Chelsea but this time the move seems realistic.
Juventus have their interest in Matic and Conte wants to use the Serbian as a bait to sweeten the deal. Allegri wants to boost the midfield with the presence of a powerful midfielder and Matic suits the role perfectly. Chelsea are expected to sign a midfielder in this summer which means, if Matic does stay his game time will substantially reduce.
Things have not been rosy between the player and the coach recently. The former AC Milan coach accused him of not following his instruction in the Champions League final. Real Madrid bashed Juventus 4-1 to win their second Consecutive Champions League title.
Allegri recently renewed vows for another two years and has made his intentions clear that he wants to get rid of Leonardo Bonucci. He is fed up of the player and wants to offload him as soon as possible.
Chelsea had earlier tried to attract the defender to Stamford Bridge but the player preferred to stay in Turin. But in the current scenario, the Italian might choose a different path and Conte is ready to offer him a lucrative contract with much higher wages.
Matic has been linked with Manchester United earlier as Jose Mourinho is very keen to reunite with one of his former players. Allegri is a keen admirer of Matic and would love to have him at Turin. The Serbian midfielder moved to London in 2009 and has two Premier League medals in his tally.
Conte would be reunited with Bonucci since he left the job at Juventus. The defender owes him a lot as Conte deserves a lot of credit for what he is today. Playing under his guidance and the lure to ply trade in the most popular football Leagues of the world might prompt Bonucci to leave Turin. It will be a major boost for Chelsea who need such quality as they embark upon an extremely tough season.
