Chelsea have ended a triumphant season by clinching their sixth Premier League title in the history of the competition. They are now looking to build on the success in the new season and will be more than happy to bring in some world-class talents who might help them become a formidable force in next year’s UEFA Champions League as well.
Among a plethora of players who have been linked with Chelsea following their dismissal of the mainstay in attack, Spanish striker Diego Costa from the team in a recent dramatic turn of events, the name that has come up on top of the wanted list is that of the teenage sensation from French Ligue 1 side Monaco Kylian Mbappe. The 19-year-old has been one of the players to watch out for this season in the domestic as well as European competitions and has attracted grave interest from some of the best teams from all over Europe.
As per reports, Diego Costa, who has been the highest scorer for the Blues last season, has been given clear indication that he will not be a part of the future plans of Chelsea’s current coach Antonio Conte.
Speculations are rife that Chelsea are looking forward to securing the services of the young French striker from Monaco, who has been instrumental throughout the season for his club to make them the French Ligue 1 champions. He was also one of the prime factors that enabled Monaco to enter the semi-final of the Champions League this season.
Sources are suggesting that the Blues coach might meet Mbappe on June 13th after the international friendly between England and France to discuss terms regarding his potential move to Stamford Bridge in the next season. The Italian is very much interested in the French youngster after watching him spearhead the attack for Leonardo Jardim’s side alongside another former Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao.
Other big name clubs including the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid have also shown interest to bag the in-form French international for the next season. Reportedly, Arsenal have also tried a hand at roping in the Monaco striker, making a huge bid of £87 million, which was eventually rejected by the club, who have valued their prized possession at £100 million for the potential suitors to make a move.
Mbappe has been a prolific scorer this season, having scored 26 goals in 44 games for his club side Monaco and is looking to continue his immaculate form in the next season as well.
