Chelsea finished their last season on a high after lifting the Premier League trophy for the sixth time in their history and are looking to build on the success in the next season. However, they might be in dire need of a good midfielder after their talismanic player Eden Hazard has been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid in the summer.
Reportedly, the Blues are already eyeing a potential target to replace the Belgian superstar in their team and he might be the Portuguese midfield sensation Ruben Navas, who currently is playing for Porto in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. The under-21 midfielder has been in good form of late and has been looked upon as a superstar in the making by a number of big name clubs in Europe.
The youngster has made only 18 appearances for his team in the last season, owing to an injury scare that saw him being sidelined for a prolonged time. However, he made his presence felt with his sensational skills and great attributes in whatever time he got to spend on the pitch, and got 1 goal to his name as well.
Chelsea might face stern competition from their arch-rivals Liverpool, who are also interested in signing the sensational midfielder for their next season. Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool boss, is well aware of the fact that he has to face some of the biggest clubs in the Champions League in the next season, and will need a player who can maintain a continuous supply of quality balls into the attacking third to feed the strikers and help them to score goals.
Neves can be a good addition to the team, with his prowess and pace that can be able to bamboozle the opposition players and get the ball in the right area at the right time.
Neves has, however, not been handed enough chance in the last season at his club Porto and has not been consistently a part of their starting line-up, which might be a detriment to the growth of the sensational youngster to become a star of the future.
A move to Chelsea or Liverpool might give the Portuguese player that much needed time out on the pitch, given that he can cope with the fiercely competitive nature of the Premier League football and doesn’t get injured very often. However, all of that can happen if his current club Porto let go of him in the summer.
