In a shocking new report emerging, West Ham United’s winter recruit, Robert Snodgrass, has been linked with a move out of the London Stadium with newly-promoted side Brighton & Hove Albion a likely suitor for the Scotsman.
The 29-year-old attacking midfielder was meant to spur an instant change in the underconfident West Ham side that struggled for the whole of the season. The former Hull City player was one of the arrivals with former Southampton skipper Jose Fonte, but while the Portuguese centre-half did quite impressively with the Hammers, Snodgrass was a disappointment.
The player who moved to London for £10 million as the then top scorer of the Tigers failed to score a single goal for the side. In the 15 league appearances, he could manage for the side, he has contributed only two assists. Slaven Bilic is definitely not pleased with the man, and reports of a £8 million move to Brighton & Hove Albion is very much possible.
After failing terribly in the last summer transfer window that brought players like Simone Zaza and Sofiane Feghouli to West Ham, the Croatian manager would want to go for clever shopping this time. And a right wing would be at the top of his list as Michail Antonio’s backup. Snodgrass’ time may be already up at West Ham unless he wants to remain as a second fiddle to a star arrival.
With the West Ham fans already turning against him owing to his underwhelming displays, Snodgrass has one last chance left to better himself as Scotland face England in the World Cup qualifier where Snodgrass has been called into action.
An academy product of Scottish side Livingston FC, Snodgrass had a small loan stint with Stirling before Leeds United brought him in 2008. Four impressive years with the Whites and Norwich City picked him up in 2012 when he made his big move to the Premier League. Hull bought him two years later as they made their big promotion before going down again the following season.
Snodgrass has played almost the same number of games in the Championship as well as in the Premier League, and he has visibly been more successful at the lower clubs, which makes Brighton a suitable destination for him. The Seagulls have a fan-favorite in winger Anthony Knockaert and Snodgrass could be a brilliant addition to the side.
Playing behind the likes of Glenn Murray, Sam Baldock and Tomer Hemed, the experienced midfielder could create fantastic chances for the side.
