Brighton and Hove Albion FC have made it to the Premier League for the next season and are looking to rebuild their side in order to make a strong statement in the Premier League against big name clubs like Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and defending champions Chelsea.
The 2017/18 season is going to be the debut season for the Seagulls in the Premier League and they are already on their mark to bring in some players who will help them strengthen their side and make it good enough for competing in top-flight football. Reportedly, they are eyeing the Danish defender Simon Kjaer to bag him for the next season.
The 28-year-old is currently playing for the Turkish club Fenerbahce and has been in good form in the recently concluded season, helping his club to make a third-place finish in the Turkish Super Lig. This has irked quite a few clubs from all over Europe to make a bid for the Dane this summer, with a view to making him a part of their squad for the next season.
As per sources, Premier League club Liverpool have also been pursuing the Fenerbahce defender, who prefers to play in a central position for rebuilding their team, keeping in mind the fact that they will be playing in the Champions League next term and will need reinforcements to be brought into the team this summer.
However, it will not be easy for the teams who are willing to bag the 28-year-old Danish ace, as the Turkish club have reportedly slammed a price tag of £17.5 million on their prized possession, who initially was rated at £13 million, making a number of teams pull out of the race. However, Brighton have not yet given up on their hope to get their desired player and are looking to negotiate with Fenerbahce on the terms of transfer for their mainstay in defence.
Apart from the Seagulls and the Reds, French Ligue 1 champions Monaco and former champions Paris Saint-Germain, along with Lyon have all been in the queue to make a bid for the Fenerbahce ace in the forthcoming summer transfer window. Besides, Italian giants AC Milan have also made their interests prominent to make a move for bagging the influential Danish international for the next season.
Among all the teams, it is being speculated that the centre back might end up either at Anfield or the Rossoneri camp in the next season if Fenerbahce lets go of him.
