Riyad Mahrez has been one of the players who did not have a good season with his club Leicester City. The Foxes finished in a lowly 12th position this term, with their star man finishing the season with only three goals to his name.
The story, however, was completely different last season, with the Algerian midfielder making a big impact in making his team win the Premier League title for the first time in their history. Not only that, he was also awarded the PFA Player of the Year for that season. This had irked a number of teams from all over Europe to make a move for the Algerian midfield maestro to make him a part of the team.
This season, despite the dismal performance, there have been offers from big clubs for Mahrez who want him to be a part of their squad in the next season. Arsenal, who have won the 13th FA Cup in their history recently beating the Premier League champions Chelsea in the final, are in pursuit of a player who can hold their midfield together in the new season, and Mahrez seems to fit their bill completely in the current situation.
The Gunners might have to let go of their master midfielder Mesut Ozil this summer, with the German having not yet signed a new agreement for the new season. This has forced their manager, the French mastermind Arsene Wenger to look for viable options to replace his key man in the midfield, and he might look to bring in the Algerian star to boost his midfield in the summer.
Reportedly, the Leicester City midfielder has also showed his interest in making a move out of his current club, though has not given any indication about which club he will be moving to. This has made the situation even more interesting for the Gunners, who have a good chance of getting hold of the midfielder.
Arsene Wenger, the coach who has become nothing less than a legendary figure for the Gunners, has signed a new two year deal with the North London club and is already looking to revamp his squad for the next season. It is quite unlikely that he will let his master player Ozil leave the club in the summer, but if that happens, one of the best options he might have at his disposal to replace the mercurial German midfielder is definitely Riyad Mahrez.
