Arsenal are considering options to make a move for Jean Michael Seri of Nice. The midfielder has impressed in the Ligue 1 with his antics and has been on the list of a number of clubs.
The French club surprised everyone by finishing third in the Ligue 1 this season. The Ivory Coast midfielder has been one of the most talked about players in this fine season. The Gunners reportedly had a conversation with his agent over a potential move.
Arsene Wenger has been handed a new contract and he will be adamant to build a squad capable of challenging the other top teams in the Premier League. The North Londoners are also in the fray to compete in the Europa League and Wenger would be looking forward to doing well in the tournament especially after Manchester United’s maiden triumph in the Europa League this season.
Wenger has been scouting the player for quite a while and he was even seen in Nice with Ivan Gazidis who happens to be the club’s chief executive. The Ivory Coast midfielder has a price tag of £35m but Arsenal are ready to negotiate the price.
Having endured an awful season, Wenger is believed to be in the search for a dominant presence in the midfield. The Gunners have failed to grab a place in the Top four of the Premier League for the first time in two decades. Wenger has identified certain section which needs to be rectified and midfield is certainly one of them.
Despite having a very luxurious quota of midfielders, the Gunners have struggled. The absence of Santi Cazorla had been felt heavily and the addition of Granit Xhaka hadn’t worked for them. Although Xhaka showed his mettle in the last few games, the need for a proper central midfielder is a priority.
Aaron Ramsey and Xhaka have complemented each well other since Wenger implemented a 3-4-2-1 formation. Seri would bring a whole lot of physicality on the pitch. The midfielder is a tiring runner across the pitch and would help Wenger to fill the void of Cazorla.
A number of clubs with the likes of AS Roma and Barcelona have also tried to land the player. Both the clubs are short of midfielders and are very keen to bring a top notch midfielder.
Arsenal’s North London rivals are also weighing up a move for the player and Wenger needs to act first to grab the player.
