With the renewal of Arsene Wenger’s contract against the wishes of the majority of the fans and following a poor season in the Premier League, the Arsenal board would expect their decision not to get backfired in any way. One of the primary objectives for the North-London side would be to appease the fans now, which means having a significant transfer window in the upcoming summer.
And Arsene Wenger has stated on losing the heavy squad Arsenal have at the moment to get in two-three world class transfers in return. His work, however, was made easier by Lucas Perez wanting a move out of the club recently.
The Spaniard, who was one of the last-minute buys for Arsenal last summer, has reportedly communicated through his agent, his willingness to leave Emirates Stadium. His agent, Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle, said, “The idea is to be able to play for another club. We want to leave and Arsenal already know. Do you know anyone who is happy but has no opportunities?”
The 28-year-old striker moved to Arsenal from La Liga side, Deportivo La Coruna for £17 million after Arsenal had lost five points in the league losing to Liverpool and drawing with Leicester City. Since then he has been impressive in the few chances he got. The former Dynamo Kiev man managed eight goals and three assists in all competitions.
However, first an ankle injury followed by a thigh injury meant he missed many games for the Gunners and given the poor season Arsenal have had on the domestic front, Wenger couldn’t afford to risk an unproven player at all.
Here are 3 possible destinations for the player-
West Ham United- Slaven Bilic is in desperate need of a quality striker up front. After the failure of on-loan player Simone Zaza from Juventus followed by an underwhelming display by Andy Carroll, the Croat is looking to have someone with a good conversion rate. And Perez has already proved his ability to find the box from some very tight angles, with Arsenal’s equaliser against Bournemouth a prime example.
Deportivo La Coruna- Yes, Perez’s old club wants him back badly, and they haven’t hidden that fact. Although they are not the only side in Spain willing to land him with Sevilla also expected to pose a tough challenge for the left-footed striker. Before he moved to Arsenal, Perez even scored in a 2-1 win over Eibar last summer. they are even willing to give £17.5 million for him now.
Everton- The Toffees are one of his oldest admirers and Arsenal, in fact, had to beat them in the race to sign Perez last summer. Now with things looking uncertain in the Arsenal camp, Ronald Koeman might take a try again. With Aaron Lennon and Yannick Bolasie both sidelined, Perez could bring some real quality on the flanks.
