Arsenal ended their last season on a high, having won the FA Cup for the 13th time in their history and are looking forward to making a good start to the next season. They have made their intention to build a strong team for the next term very clear by signing the left back Sead Kolasinac from Schalke and are eyeing a number of other players who can turn the tide in their favour from the very start of the next season.
Reportedly, the North London club is looking very keen to bring back one of their trainee players, who have made a name for himself in Europe as one of the most influential midfielders. Oguzhan Ozyakup, the Turkish midfield sensation is high on the hit list for the Gunners this summer, and they are keen to land him at the Emirates as soon as possible.
Ozyakup was a part of Arsenal’s Youth Academy and stayed at the North London club from 2008 to 2012. He won quite a few accolades and played as a regular in Arsenal’s youth side. He made his first appearance for the senior side in 2011 and was used very rarely as a substitute in a few outings. In 2012, the Turkish midfielder took his decision to move back to his home country with Besiktas and has been an integral part of the Turkish Super Lig club ever since.
However, Arsenal’s renewed interest in their youth academy product might face stiff competition, as a number of big name clubs from all over Europe are looking to bag the influential youngster for the next season including the likes of Italian giants Roma, who are ready to make a bid for Ozyakup this summer.
Reportedly, the Turkish club might receive an offer of £13 million for their prized possession from the Italian club Roma, who want the youngster to be a part of their line-up in the next season. The deal, however, has not been confirmed by Besiktas and thus Arsenal still have a chance to make the sensational midfielder wear their colours in the next season.
Ozyakup has made 38 appearances for his team in the last season and has played a very important role in the midfield to stabilise it. He has been one of the most important factors for Besiktas last season and has led them to win the Turkish Super Lig title.
Arsenal might have to leave Mesut Ozil, their influential midfielder in the summer and are willing to bring in Ozyakup to replace him in their midfield.
