Arsenal are in dire need of reinforcements to be brought into the team for the new season and are already on their way to do so by having signed one of the most highly rated left backs in the form of Sead Kolasinac from Schalke. The Gunners are now looking to revamp their midfield for the next season, which has been an area of major concern in the recently concluded season for them.
The man in charge at the Emirates Stadium, Arsene Wenger, has been worried about the fact that he does not have someone good enough in the team who can support his team’s midfield enforcer Granit Xhaka, with the Swiss midfielder having to take a lot of pressure on his young shoulders. The Frenchman has players like compatriot Francis Coquelin and Egyptian footballer Mohamed Elneny to fill the position, but both have failed to prove their effectiveness over time and has been compelled to be left on the sidelines by Wenger.
This has reportedly prompted the wily French manager to turn his head towards an exciting young prospect in the form of Gabonese midfielder Mario Lemina, who is currently playing his football for the Italian club Juventus in the Serie A.
The 23-year-old joined the Bianconeri in 2015 from Marseille on loan and played a pretty significant role in the midfield in absence of a number of players from the first team due to injuries. He was handed a permanent contract in the next season and was brought into the club at a price of £6.5 million. However, since then he has not been able to see much of the action mainly because of the Juventus manager making a switch to a two-man midfield system and also due to the presence of players like Sami Khedira, Miralem Pjanic and even Stefano Sturaro in the line-up ahead of him.
With the current formation of the Gunners that has seen Arsene Wenger switch to a 5-man midfield, and central midfield is a very important part of it, it might be the perfect opportunity for the Gabonese enforcer to play a very important role for the North London club alongside Xhaka in the next season.
Reportedly, Premier League club Watford are also looking to make a bid to bag the midfielder from the Italian champions in the summer, which is supposed to be something around £17 million in value. The Hornets are also in dire need of top-class players and might contest the Gunners in pursuit of their desired player.
