Alexandre Lacazette, the main marksman of Olympique Lyonnais, has reportedly announced that he will be leaving the French Ligue 1 side at the end of the season. He has not said anything about his next destination, but he has dropped a hint that he might be heading to the Spanish La Liga.
Lacazette has been very frank about his admiration for the Spanish side Atletico Madrid and their main man Antoine Griezmann, who is his colleague in the French National team as well. However, there might also be a potential move to the English Premier League on the cards for the mercurial striker from France.
Reportedly, Arsenal are looking favourites to bring in the French striker in the next season. The Gunners have ended a tumultuous season on a high note, winning the FA Cup for a record 13th time in their history, and are looking to build on that success for the next season as well.
The North London club, however, are having trouble to keep hold of their talismanic forward Alexis Sanchez, who might be leaving in the summer and are in dire need of a top class player who might be the perfect replacement for him. In the current situation, Lacazette looks to be the perfect one to fit the bill for the Gunners.
However, the fact that Arsenal have failed to book a place for themselves in the UEFA Champions League for the next season might be detrimental in their pursuit of the French forward. As per sources, Lacazette’s prime reason behind leaving Lyon is their inability to make it to the Champions League in the next season. Arsenal, having not been able to make it into the top four, might not be a strong contender to bring in the player in the summer.
Lacazette has been the talisman for Lyon throughout his career so far. However, the lack of top class players who can support him in the attacking front in order to win more accolades for his side is considered to be another major reason for the forward to make a move out of the French club.
