Arsenal have already started their summer shopping as they have secured the signature of one of the highly regarded left backs, Sead Kolasinac from German Bundesliga side Schalke on a free transfer deal as the Bosnia and Herzegovina international went out of contract at his current club. This has been indicative of the intention that the Gunners have for the new season in order to revamp their side.
Having secured a good player for their backline, the North London club have now shifted their attention towards the problems that they have faced in the last season in the attacking front, and are looking to bring in a player who can reduce them significantly. As per reports, the French striker Alexandre Lacazette is close to making a move from French Ligue 1 to the Premier League club in the summer after an announcement earlier stating his departure from Lyon.
Arsenal have been in dire need of a player who can come up as a replacement for their talismanic striker Alexis Sanchez, who might leave the club this summer after he has rejected to pen down a new contract with the North London club. In the current situation, Lacazette fits the bill perfectly for the Gunners, as they look to negotiate terms with the player’s agent and current club for a potential transfer.
Reportedly, the French marksman has been much more inclined towards a move to a club that might be able to offer him Champions League football. He had also confessed about his affinity for the Spanish club Atletico Madrid for which the talismanic striker Antoine Griezmann plays as well.
However, due to a ban imposed on the La Liga club for the next season which has barred them from indulging in any kind of activity in the transfer market, the Frenchman had to drop the idea of joining his National team colleague at the Spanish Capital in the next season.
Now that the deal to Atletico Madrid is off the table for the time being, there is good chance that the mercurial forward might head towards the Emirates Stadium. However, he will not get to play Champions League football in his first season with the Gunners, in case he signs with them this summer, as they have failed to qualify in the top four for the first time since 1998.
Reportedly, the Gunners are planning to rope in Lacazette with transfer fees of £50 million for the next season and are already in discussion with the Lyon President to initialize the deal.
