It seems Arsenal’s pre-season won’t be seeing just pep talks from their manager Arsene Wenger and owner Stan Kroenke, about the club challenging for top silverwares and will always be there in the market for top talents. Those things might actually be happening this summer as reportedly, the North London club has sanctioned a war chest of £150 million to the manager.
Arsenal finished out of the top four for the first time in last twenty years, and while this was surely a new thing for the fans, their vehement protests to throw out the manager and owner out of the club wasn’t something that the club had experienced before. Arsenal have seen chants and posters of ‘Wenger Out” for the full second-half of the season when their season actually started taking the hit.
And it continued through the dark stages when Arsenal were eliminated from the Champions League as well as thrown out of the title race by defeats against the likes of Everton, Watford, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace. But, it all started on the first day of the season when Arsenal lost to Liverpool and they were yet to buy Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez.
By the time they had arrived Arsenal already lost five points, and Wenger wouldn’t want to make the same mistake again-
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang- We know Arsenal are hot on heels of AS Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe with media going mad about the idea of Arsenal going toe to toe financially with the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City, but it doesn’t make any sense spending 80% of the transfer budget on one player. Plus, such an arrival could force Arsenal to sell Alexis Sanchez to salvage the huge sum.
A move for this Gabon international would make a lot of sense instead. With Borussia Dortmund already refusing claims of Paris Saint-Germain agreeing on terms with the player, Arsenal have a real chance of landing him.
Djibril Sidibe- With Sead Kolasinac deal sealed, Arsenal would next need someone to give competition to Hector Bellerin on the right defensive flank. Carl Jenkinson and Mathieu Debuchy are most likely departing from Emirates this summer and Monaco’s Sidibe could be a brilliant addition.
The Ligue 1 full-back has been vibrant for the French Champions with many top European clubs eyeing him, but Arsenal could swoop in if they place a decent bid and Wenger needs someone with his attributes for the wing-back’s role in playing a three-man defence.
Corentin Tolisso- A potential central midfielder has been a long-term requirement for the north London side, who are struggling to find a proper anchor since Patrick Viera left the club. The likes of Abou Diaby, Jack Wilshere and Denilson have all failed to create that impact; and now with a quality option like Granit Xhaka available as the regista, Wenger would need someone like N’Golo Kante to cover for the Swiss International.
And the Lyon midfielder has all the attributes to fill that role. The 22-year-old midfielder has scored 14 goals and registered seven assists for the French side last season and could be a huge addition to the Arsenal side.
