West Ham United are very keen to rope in Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony. Bony is currently on loan at Stoke City and has been struggling to nail a first team place at the BET365 Stadium. Slaven Bilic is very frustrated how he dealt with his striking situation this season and wants to add sufficient players to bolster his side’s chances in the next season.
Subsequent injuries to most of the strikers have jolted a blow to West Ham’s probabilities to finish in a better position in this season. Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho has been sidelined for most of the time as Bilic had to deploy Michail Antonio upfront to deal with the problems. Bony has netted only two goals this season but a move away from Manchester City is highly imminent. City will likely to recoup at least half of the £28m they paid for the striker and will listen to offers in the region of £15m.
A new number nine would be the first priority for Bilic if they are to provide any sort of competition in the next season. Bony is also linked with a number of other clubs but West Ham are very confident of landing the player.
Hammers did sign Simone Zaza but he turned out to be a disastrous signing as he failed to hit a single shot in the goal for the Hammers. On the other hand, Wilfried Bony’s move to City seemed to have backfired as he had a very quiet season at the Etihad Stadium. His loan move to Stoke also couldn’t help him as the striker has fallen out of the favour for the most of the time. But he could reignite his career if a move happens to the London Stadium in this summer.
The Hammers have been in the search of a striker for long and Bony could be the saviour for them. However, the striker has a knack of getting injured in crunch times and Bilic might reconsider the idea of signing him. Stoke have barely managed to pose trouble to any of the clubs this season as the Potters have had a very disappointing season so far.
It might sound a bit awkward but City had the chance to sign Paulo Dybala as the Argentine youngster expressed his interest in playing alongside Sergio Aguero. But they rejected the chance and instead went on to go for Bony who had been an awful signing for them. If Bony does sign for the Hammers he could be a huge bet which Bilic is ready to take on.
