Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho might be on the move this summer, given the lack of chances provided by their new coach Pep Guardiola this season. The Nigerian marksman has started only one game in the Premier League all through this year. Reportedly, West Ham United is looking to bag him during the summer transfer window, given Manchester City lets him leave.
The striker was a regular starter under the coaching of the former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini and enjoyed a good season in the last one. However, things took a turn after Pep Guardiola took charge at the Etihad Stadium last summer. He brought in Gabriel Jesus, who made an immediate impact in the team. With another prolific striker Sergio Aguero present in the line up already, Iheanacho was made to sit on the bench for most of the season.
The Nigerian has been playing most of the current season as a substitute and has scored seven goals so far. However, the striker is not happy with the way things are taking a turn in the current season, and almost with no hope of them changing much in the next season as well, he might look to make a move out of the Etihad Stadium during the summer transfer window.
West Ham United are themselves not having a very good season up front with both their strikers Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll missing a number of games due to injuries. Coach Slaven Bilic, who has been kept in charge of the team for another season, has been desperately looking to let go of the two abovementioned forwards, given the right price and bring in someone as good as Iheanacho to boost his team’s attack in the next season.
Reportedly, West Ham United are looking to make a bid of £20 million in order to make the Nigerian striker wear their colours in the next season. However, there has been no confirmation from Manchester City about whether they are willing to let go of the youngster during the summer transfer window.
Iheanacho is known for his darting runs into the heart of the opposition defence, along with his ability to score crucial goals from time to time. He also has the ability to make the opposition go berserk with his dazzling footwork, and make inroads into the attacking third, providing important assists for his teammates allowing them to score goals. The Nigerian is also known for his long range shots, both from open play and set piece situations.
