Freiburg frontman Maximilian Philipp has emerged as a target for Tottenham Hotspur as the North London club continue to be linked with various players. Mauricio Pochettino’s side has been excellent throughout the campaign and he needs to make sure that they stay on their track in the next season too. Philipp has had a very injury-ravaged season but still, he has managed to net nine goals in 24 appearances for the German side in this season.
Spurs have cemented a second spot finish in the Premier League in what has been a fantastic campaign for the North Londoners. Philipp was one of the key players behind Freiburg’s promotion last season and now his performance in the top flight has also sparked interest in Pochettino’s mind. Tottenham hadn’t suffered much this campaign as Heung-Min Son has often effectively filled the void upfront when Harry Kane was injured. Vincent Janssen has been pretty awful since his move to the White Hart Lane and there is a very high chance that he might be offloaded in the summer.
Leipzig had a bid rejected in the summer for this talented forward and they will ignite their interest again in this summer. Tottenham already have a young chunk of attackers including the likes of Dele Alli and Harry Kane and Phillip’s addition will be a treat to watch. 
The addition of Philipp will help the Argentine gaffer to explore new options in the attacking third. The 23-year-old can play in a number of positions and his versatility could be an important cog in his move. He can be an out and out forward and can also play in the wider areas.
Harry Kane has been an absolute beast in front of the goal for Spurs but an absence of a proper secondary striker has been hurting them. Spurs could have been more threatening up front but the goal scoring inability of Janssen has forced Pochettino to look for a backup option in the transfer market. Philippe has the knack of getting injured but as a whole, he could be the surprise package. His versatility and creativity in the opponent half have made him a sought-after player in Germany and his antics have caught the attention of a number of clubs. Spurs could table a bid for the youngster soon but they need to act fast as Leipzig have been trying to manipulate a move for him.
