The fact that Leicester City’s season is destined to finish in an average manner this term with history indicating an eventual perish thereafter, has opened the window for numerous stars to consider their future at King Power Stadium after this season.
Among them remain the exciting Demarai Gray. The 20-year-old winger was bought last January from Birmingham City for a mere £3.5m and is regarded by many as one of the exciting prospects in the country. The season was hyped by his availability in the squad and he did justice to it by some flashes of absolute magic against the likes of Manchester United and Derby County.
But, his individual abilities did little to find him a way into the first-team. He has been mainly a substitute under both Claudio Ranieri and Craig Shakespeare, who have used him 23 times from the bench so far. He could complete only two games in the league so far, which were before February.
However, this hasn’t stopped his admirers from keeping tabs on him. He is already a part of the England Under-21 squad, who are preparing for the European Championship finals in Poland next month; and many top clubs are also lining up bids for him. Although controversial, but his release clause is reportedly in the region of £22 million, which has put clubs on red alert.
With a possibility of departure looming large at the end of the season, here are 3 clubs that could be among probable destinations for the forward-
Tottenham Hotspur- Although the Lilywhites are pretty much out of the title race after that surprising loss to West Ham United, one cannot deny the desire and respect that Spurs have managed to create with their displays this season. Mauricio Pochettino is looked up to now as the prime nurturer after the rise of Alli, Kane, Dier and Son, and Gray will be no different. With Champions League eligibility next season too, Gray wouldn’t need much luring for sure.
Manchester City- Pep Guardiola is a master tactician, who has managed some of the world’s best footballers, young and old. With Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling, hogging limelight this season, Gray could be tempted if Manchester City come calling. Guardiola always prefers young talents to impose his philosophy and he would be delighted to have Gray at his disposal.
Liverpool- The Reds have a thin bench, to put it mildly. Without the likes of Sadio Mane and Philipe Coutinho on the wings, Liverpool have struggled hugely and Jurgen Klopp is desperate to add more wingers to the side, who could rip apart opponents with their raw pace and finishing. Liverpool’s attacking mindset suits Gray aptly and a move to Anfield will surely be a step up.
