It has come as a shock to the fans of Leeds United, as their club’s present manager Garry Monk has announced his resignation from his post. The Englishman’s decision ended his tenure that lasted just a couple of years with Leeds United, starting at the very end of 2015, after he was sacked by his former club Swansea City.
Speculations are rife that the decision from the Englishman came as an aftermath of the Whites finishing at the seventh position this term. Although they had started quite well and were looking good to make it into the first six, they faced a slump in their performance over the last eight games, securing just one win and thus falling short of the sixth position by a mere five points.
Now that he has resigned from the post of the head coach at Elland Road, rumours of a switch to a new club have already started to catch the wind for the 38-year-old manager. The probable clubs that he might join as a coach in the next season are:
Watford-
With their coach Walter Mazzarri sacked at the end of the recently concluded season, the Hornets will be looking to bring in someone new to take charge of affairs at Vicarage Road for the next season. In the current circumstances, the former Leeds United manager can be the right solution to their problems for the long term.
Sunderland-
David Moyes has resigned from his post, as he was not able to make the Black Cats stay back in the Premier League next season. They were relegated with four games to spare and are ready to enter the Championship, with a view to make a move back to the top flight quickly.
Given his fairly good performance in the Championship with former club Leeds United, there is a good chance that Garry Monk might be secured by the Black Cats to help them win the Championship in the next season, thus opening the door to top flight football for the young manager.
Crystal Palace-
Sam Allardyce, the man who was in charge of the Eagles in the last season, has resigned from the South London club. The ex-England coach inspired a valiant turnaround at the Selhurst Park to bring them out of relegation and win a series of matches to keep their place secure in the Premier League for another season. Now that he is gone, there is a good chance that Crystal Palace might opt for his compatriot Monk to take charge next season.
