Ryad Boudebouz, the Algerian winger, has been on the radar of a number of clubs from all over Europe including the Premier League. The attacking midfielder, who currently plays for the French club Montpellier, has been reportedly targeted by the English club Southampton, who want him for the next season.
The Algerian international is known for his darting runs down the wing and his dribbling, that makes life difficult for the opposition defenders inside the attacking third. He has scored 11 goals in this season so far and has also contributed with nine assists for his teammates to score goals.
Southampton did not have a very good season in their current Premier League campaign and might lose a number of players from their present squad to the big name clubs. The Saints are looking to strengthen their side and shake things up in order to make the forthcoming season a better one than the current season.
Boudebouz can be a good addition to the Southampton side, who have found it difficult in the attacking area due to the lack of a top class forward who can score goals for them and also make chances for his teammates to score goals.
This is not the first time that the Algerian attacker has been linked with a Premier League club. Liverpool had also tried to sign the player in their team in 2012 when he played for French club Sochaux, but the transaction did not turn out to go in favour of the Reds. The Algerian, meanwhile, left his former club to join Montpellier and has undoubtedly been enjoying life there.
However, the Algerian international is now reportedly looking to make a move away from his current club, his preferred destination being the Premier League. Reportedly, Montpellier has slammed a price tag of 13 million on their prized possession and are not willing to hear any offer from any club under the prescribed transfer clause.
The Algerian international has played 24 matches for his National team as well and has been a major figure in the attacking third for them. His ability to score goals from both long as well as short-range efforts has made him a force to reckon for both his club and country over the years. He is also very dangerous in the air from set piece situations and can spell trouble for the opposition.
Southampton might be looking to offload the players who have been failures in the current season and bring in some new faces to make the team stronger, and Boudebouz is being looked up as a viable option.
