Celtic have been absolutely flamboyant on the Scottish soil this season and with League Cup and Scottish Premiership title already in their bag, the Bhoys are due to take on Aberdeen later this month in the final of the Scottish Cup. Under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers, the Glasgow giants have gone from strength to strength and have constructed a solid pedestal for themselves and one of the intriguing aspects of the Celts this season has been their persistence with their youngsters.
Kieran Tierney, Patrick Roberts (Manchester City loanee) and Moussa Dembele to name a few, the blossoming starlets have been trusted with confidence by their gaffer and no wonder they have gone on to consistently deliver week in and week out. However, the former Liverpool and Swansea City manager would have a huge task of keeping his main men at the Celtic Park next season and thus, he needs to start assessing shrewd gettable replacements for the worst case scenarios.
Dembele is already targeted by European heavyweights and frankly speaking, Rodgers should be eyeing Chelsea youngster, Dominic Solanke (someone whom he thoroughly admires), to replace the Frenchman. Solanke has frozen out of Chelsea’s setup under Antonio Conte and with his contract set to expire in the summer, he might be looking forward to new adventures. The 19-year-old must be accumulating valuable match experiences under his belt at this stage of his career and an invitation from Celtic should appeal to the starlet to make a move.
The Chelsea youth product is a player with versatility as he could ply his trade as a striker, can be pencilled behind the striker or deployed on the wings. Solanke is adept at making full use of right as well as his left foot and his ability to hold the ball up front is unknown to very few. Besides, his clinical attacking prowess is simply exemplary and he has the requisite pace to blast past the defenders with relative ease. He is an unselfish player and builds the game pretty well despite being a youngster and would be an ideal addition to the attacking arsenal of Rodgers.
Although he is still an unfinished product, with the right guidance, he can brush up his skills and carve a better name for himself in times to come. The Englishman shouldn’t be stagnating himself at the Stamford Bridge and if a big club like Celtic come to his door to attain his signature, he shouldn’t be refraining himself from giving his consent.
