It has been a season filled with disappointments, agony and lacklustre performances for Rangers, as they have withered more often than not. Apparently, the Gers find themselves in the doldrums and their spirits have hung further low owing to the fact that their local rivals in the shape of Celtic have taken the domestic competitions by storm. Managerial ramification hasn’t garnered anything substantial as well and sadly, the Glasgow-based club have given very little to their fans to cherish about.
Pedro Caixinha might be pardoned this season because of the fact that the damage was already done when he took the charges of the club from Mark Warburton, but there is little doubt upon the perception that his future at the Ibrox Stadium could depend heavily upon the manner in which he carries his employers in the early phases of the upcoming season. Caixinha must have already started to feel the heat of the managerial post of a massive club like Rangers and it goes without saying that the summer transfer window would hold a paramount importance in dictating whether the Teddy Bears would be able to go toe-to-toe with Brendan Rodgers’ men.
Reports have surfaced that Aberdeen’s Niall McGinn has emerged as a shocking candidate to be signed by the former Al-Gharafa boss. McGinn has been in a fine nick for the Dons so far this campaign, having banged 10 goals in 36 appearances in the Scottish top flight. The 29-year-old has unarguably played an instrumental role in his side’s rise up to the 2nd spot in the league table with 73 points from 37 outings and has attracted a lot of attention from far and wide owing to his splendid attacking instincts and consistency and no wonder why he has fallen on the radar of Caixinha.
McGinn is a player with a fine reputation and truckloads of experience of Scottish football under his belt. A winger who could operate as an attacking midfielder, as well as a forward, the Northern Ireland international, would be a compelling target for Rangers, particularly owing to the apparent dearth of goals which has dented their pursuits to a significant extent this term. McGinn is believed to leave the Pittodrie Stadium after the Scottish Cup final on May 27 as his contract expires at the end of this month and thus, getting a high calibre player for free thoroughly appears to be a win-win situation for the Light Blues.
