Rangers’ boss Pedro Caixinha is doing a lot of homework behind the scenes and is jotting down his prospective transfer targets for the upcoming summer transfer window. In the Scottish domestic competitions, the stature of the Gers appeared to dilute massively as their arch rivals, Celtic, bagged the domestic treble and looked miles ahead of the likes of Aberdeen and Rangers. Caixinha isn’t unfamiliar to the fact that he would need to beef up the quality in his ranks before his outfit can go toe-to-toe with Brendan Rodgers’ men.
Apparently, one of the players to have fallen on the radar of the former Al-Gharafa boss is Benfica’s Daniel Candeias. The 29-year-old was shipped on loan to the Turkish Lig outfit, Alanyaspor for the 2016-17 season and quickly established himself as one of the instrumental players in their line-up.
Candeias accumulated 27 appearances in the Turkish top division for the Bahcesehir Okullari Stadium-based club, scoring four goals and registering four assists for them and in this process, he has drawn a lot of attention from the football fraternity, including Caixinha, alongside whom he worked whilst his tenure with Nacional.
Despite being in the books of Benfica since 2014, the Portuguese is yet to make an appearance for the Lisbon giants and underwent loan spells with FC Nurnberg, Granada and Metz before moving to Alanyaspor.
At this time of his career, he must be looking forward to being acknowledged by a notable club wherein he would be valued and moving to the Ibrox Stadium in the upcoming summer transfer window should benefit all the parties involved.
He is a player with a decent recognition as a goal scoring wide man and owing to the calibre he has shown in the season which just concluded, it goes without saying that the Light Blues have bookmarked a perfect player.
The former Porto man is basically an attacking midfielder on the right but has the versatility of plying his trade as a central midfielder as well as a left winger. He is seen being very comfortable on the ball, has the ability to tear defences apart and has a notable tendency of scoring goals.
Besides, he has decent pace and his prolific levels of creativity help his teammates in getting proper goal scoring chances as well. His chances of getting regular game time under his belt with Benfica look bleak and arguably, the summer transfer window might be the right time for him to bring a much-needed stability in his career.
