Things have not gone the way Sunderland wanted to deliver in this season. The Black Cats have been eliminated from the English Premier League after having a very poor season. The appointment of David Moyes couldn’t bring out the best from the players as they will be playing in the Championship next season.

The Black Cats did defeat Hull City a match before but it came too late. Throughout the season there has been a lack of determination among a large number of players that certainly made a difference as far as results are concerned.

Defence
Jordan Pickford has been the highlight of this season so far. The 23-year-old has gone on to rapid rise since he burst onto the scene this year. He is going to be in between the sticks.
Nothing seemed to have worked out for the Black Cats currently. The defensive partnership of Lamine Kone and John O’Shea had a torrid time dealing with the Swansea attackers. The defence has let down a lot in this season but Moyes is expected to carry on with them.
Javier Manquillo has started on 13 occasions so far. The Spaniard has shown flashes of competency this season and he will continue his duty on the left side of the defence.
Billy Jones has been a regular in the Moyes era and he is set for another start.
Midfield
Sunderland’s failure to win the battle in the middle of the pitch is a major reason why they are currently in this position. Despite having the ammunition they couldn’t use them properly. Jason Denayer started in the holding midfield role in the last match. Although he is carrying a knock, we can expect him to be on the field.
Didier Ndong will try to induce some positivity in the midfield. He could use his physique to build on some movement.
Sebastian Larsson is certainly one of the best creative players they have got. He will be alongside Ndong in the midfield.
Attack
Fabio Borini will try to make up some attack from the right wing.
Wahbi Khazri will have his chance from the opposite flank.
Jermain Defoe will try to poach on what he gets in the match.
