Tottenham Hotspur have been one of the most consistent teams in the Premier League this season but they need a couple of additions to their squad next season if they are to compete at the highest level. One of the many stars that Pochettino is looking at is Sampdoria sensation, Patrik Schick.
The 21-year old attacker is one of the most versatile players in the Italian league and has been in great form this season, scoring 13 goals and picking up three assists in all competitions. The Italian outfit are determined to keep him at the club for another year but reports today suggest that he is looking for a bigger challenge and is up for grabs this summer.
The Spurs are one of the many clubs that are interested in his signature. The likes of Arsenal, Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli are all looking at Schick as a possible option this summer. It is also revealed that the youngster has a release clause of £21.3m which should not be a problem for any of the clubs mentioned above. So is he a decent option for the Spurs?
Capable of playing as a striker or as a number 10, Schick is tailor-made for the Premier League. He is strong, tall and athletic and is a perfect fit for English football. He can hold on to the ball in dangerous areas but his biggest strength is his vision in the final third. He creates a number of chances in every game and also has a high number of key pass percentage this season.
He is capable of scoring long-range stunners but is equally adept at finishing half chances and acting as a poacher. An excellent dribbler with a smart head on his shoulders, Schick is an exciting player on the rise and will be a superb addition for the Spurs.
Pochettino has relied on Vincent Janssen as a backup for Kane this season. The Dutch international had a terrific season in his home country before moving to England but failed to replicate his form at the Lane. But Schick has proven himself in one of the toughest competitions in Europe and is a more established star than Janssen.
He can act as a backup for Harry Kane, while also adding an option for Pochettino to use him as a second striker when needed. Schick is a prolific goal scorer and will surely improve the Spurs’ outcome in front of goal. However, they will have to fight with a number of clubs for his signature. Do you think Pochettino should go all in for the 21-year old this summer?
