There are speculations that Diego Costa might be leaving his current club Chelsea at the end of this season, his probable destination being China. If the deal is materialised, it might see the Spaniard become the world’s highest paid player.
The Spanish striker has been instrumental in his performance and has helped Chelsea in gaining the top position in the Premier League this season. It goes without saying that it will be difficult for the current club coach Antonio Conte if he loses the service of the mercurial marksman in the forthcoming season.
Costa’s former teammate Oscar also left Chelsea during the last transfer window for Chinese club side Shanghai SIPG, and it is very much likely that Costa might follow the footsteps of the Brazilian midfielder.
Reportedly, Antonio Conte has already been looking for players who will be ideal to replace the mercurial Spaniard, who has already scored 19 goals for the Premier League club.
Some of the players whose names are in contention to substitute Diego Costa in Chelsea, in case the striker leaves for China next season are as follows-
Alvaro Morata-
Reportedly, the lack of starts at Real Madrid has demoralised the young Spaniard and he wants to leave Santiago Bernabeu for some other club during the next transfer window. The Spanish striker has been out of favour for the last few months from Zinedine Zidane, who has used him more often as a substitute. The Spaniard can be an ideal replacement for his compatriot in case Costa leaves for China in the summer. His earlier experience of playing with Conte during his stay at Juventus will also come handy if the reunion happens.
Romelu Lukaku-
Romelu Lukaku has been instrumental in reviving the current season for Everton but hasn’t been able to find ample support from his teammates so far this season. The Everton striker has been in ominous form throughout the current season, scoring 24 goals for the Merseyside club. Reportedly, Antonio Conte has also tried to make the Belgian a part of his lineup in the recent past. With Diego Costa looking to leave Chelsea, there is a good chance that the deal might be materialised this time around.
Moussa Dembele-
The Frenchman has been in prolific form in the current season for the Scottish club Celtic and has played an influential role in making them the champions this season. Antonio Conte might look up to Dembele as a potential replacement in case Costa leaves for China next season.
