Fernando, the Brazilian midfielder who is currently playing for the Premier League club Manchester City, has been out of favour under their new manager Pep Guardiola. He has been kept on the bench for most of the time throughout the current season and The Citizens might look to offload the midfielder during the next transfer window.
Reportedly, the newly promoted side Newcastle United, who are awaiting a fresh start in the Premier League having spent one year in the Championship, are interested in Fernando. Rafa Benitez, the manager of The Toons has been looking to bring in new players into the side to provide them with a strong enough line-up that can handle the Premier League clubs including the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal.
As per sources, the Spaniard has demanded a war chest consisting of £100 million to be used to revamp the side for the next season from the top management of the club. He has also told the club to give him full control over the transfer related matters during the next summer. Speculations are rife that the ex-Galacticos’ coach might look for a new club in the next season given his demands are not fulfilled by the Newcastle United management.
Newcastle United, having clinched the Championship, are looking to bring back their glory days in the Premier League. However, it is guaranteed to be an uphill task for The Toons as they have to face some of the best teams, not only in England but also in the whole of Europe in their next season and will require players who can provide stability to the side and steer them towards victory.
Reportedly, the Brazilian playmaker is also looking for regular outings and will be more than happy to move to a club who can provide that to him. Fernando was brought into the Manchester City side in the year 2014 by the then manager Manuel Pellegrini along with his teammate Eliaquim Mangala from Porto. Mangala has been let out by the current manager Pep Guardiola on loan and is currently playing in the Spanish La Liga with Valencia.
According to sources, Newcastle United have confirmed that they will be more than happy to provide their manager Rafa Benitez with the opportunity to handle the affairs regarding transfers during the summer. However, there has been no official confirmation about whether the Spaniard is going to get his demanded amount of 100 million or not.
