Tiemoue Bakayoko has attracted interests from across the world and Manchester United has also emerged as one of the potential destinations for this French midfielder. Bakayoko has been a member of Monaco’s youthful squad as the French side grabbed the Ligue 1 title this term. They were also one of the title contenders of the Champions League title but bowed out in the semifinals at the hand of Juventus after giving a very inspired performance. A host of players of this team are set to depart and Bakayoko could be the first of many.
But United need to act first as Chelsea are reportedly in a fiery mood to complete the transfer. Antonio Conte has made his intentions clear to the Chelsea hierarchy and the club reportedly had an initial chat with the player’s representatives. The Blues are set to offer £40m for the French international and are looking favourites to land the player.
Jose Mourinho needs to send a strong message to his counterparts and signing Bakayoko would surely give them an edge. Mourinho’s search of a suitable dominating midfielder seemed to have ended at Bakayoko. Keeping Bakayoko in the midfield would give Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba more freedom to surge forward. Pogba has been the creative playmaker in the United midfield but the presence of a solid ball-playing holding midfielder would let him express himself as he used to do at Juventus where a certain Andrea Pirlo and Claudio Marchisio used to play alongside him.
Bakayoko has earned a French call-up and we have already seen his performance in this season. A clean tackler of the ball, he would add dynamism to the United midfield which has been missing from the United midfield. Michael Carrick is no more the player what he used to be and he also lacks the pace which is essential these days. The 22-year-old would dictate the play from deep and can move forward as the play goes on.
However, Chelsea are tipped to hijack the midfield enforcer as they are preparing a bid for the French player. Liverpool are also monitoring the player’s movement as Jurgen Klopp is very keen to add him to the side. Bakayoko would be the anchorman of the midfield trio and could help Adam Lallana and Georginio Wijnaldum to concentrate in a more attacking role. Although Chelsea remain very confident, Mourinho would try his best to bring the player to Old Trafford.
