Manchester United became the fifth team from England to qualify for the Champions League next season as they managed to put two unanswered goals past Dutch giants Ajax in the Europe League final recently. Qualification into the elite competition is only a part of the perks of winning that game as they are now closer than ever to signing one Antoine Griezmann.
The French international is currently one of the best strikers in Europe and has been in terrific form for Atletico Madrid for more than a season now. He has 26 goals and 12 assists to his name in all competitions and helped his side to the finals of the Champions League.
A superb finisher with excellent dribbling abilities, Griezmann is a genuine striker who can score all kinds of goals. He is strong and can hold up play with ease while his ability to dribble past opponents and find the back of the net is something Manchester United have missed this season.
The likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have been the only options to lead the attack for United this season and Griezmann is expected to walk into the first team. But he is not expected to be the only attacker that Mourinho will add to his squad. With Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata also close to an exit, the manager will surely look to add another name to his attack and this might get the best out of Griezmann.
Manchester United are in the Champions League and need squad depth to be able to compete at the highest level. If they spend on another striker after Antoine Griezmann, they will have to use either in a withdrawn role and Griezmann is more than capable of cementing his place there.
The French international recently revealed that he is ready to move to Manchester United if they qualify for UCL. With that done and dusted, it will not come as a shock to see Griezmann announce his move to United in the upcoming months.
His versatility and ability to play in a number 10 role and also as a lone striker, is what Manchester United need next season. They need a player who can create and score goals regularly and the 26-year old Frenchman fits the bill.
He is wanted by a number of other clubs but Griezmann seems a perfect fit for Manchester United as he will be the talisman for the club, and Mourinho will surely set up his team in a way to get the best out of his star attacker.
