Manchester United have made their way into the Champions League next season, given their gallant win in the Europa League final against Ajax. However, the Premier League campaign for the Red Devils has been far from satisfactory and they are in dire need of reinforcements to strengthen their team for the next season.
Reportedly, Manchester United are eyeing the Columbian skipper James Rodriguez to be brought into the side in the summer, which will bolster their chances for a good fight against some of the best teams from all over Europe. Speculations are rife that Rodriguez is not happy with the state of affairs at his current team Real Madrid, and is willing to leave Santiago Bernabeu before the start of the next season.
The Columbian ace has not been handed many starts so far by the present Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane, who has been fond of Spanish youngster Isco and has used him more often in the midfield in place of the injured Welshman Gareth Bale alongside Cristiano Ronaldo to initiate attacks on the opposition goals.
Isco has also responded in a very positive way and has scored ten goals en route to making his club the Spanish La Liga champions this season after a long gap of five years. This has, evidently, put the Columbian skipper’s future with Real Madrid in jeopardy and he is eyeing a move away from the Spanish capital in the summer.
Reportedly, Manchester United are in pole position to bag the Columbian star for the next season, which might see him make a move from the Spanish club involving a huge pay hike.
In case Rodriguez appears at Old Trafford in the next season, the current coach of Manchester United, Jose Mourinho will have very good attacking options at his disposal and can look to build the team in a 4-3-3 formation, with Rodriguez playing right up in his preferred position.
Spearheaded by Marcus Rashford, with uncertainty over the future of their main striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Red Devils might look to start with Anthony Martial and James Rodriguez on either side of the Englishman. The three men behind them should preferably be Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera and Henrikh Mkhitaryan stabilising the midfield.
Eric Billey and Antonio Valencia should be a part of the back four for the Red Devils, with a doubtful David de Gea in the goal to complete the lineup. The other two positions in the backline are yet to be decided.
Here is how they could lineup:
