Manchester City are looking to build a side for their next Premier League campaign which will let them leave behind the disappointments of the current season. Reportedly, they will be offloading quite a few players who have not performed up to the mark and will look to imbibe some fresh blood into their line-up.
With a new contract for their left back Gael Clichy looking unlikely, Manchester City has started their search for a new full-back who can prove to be effective for the team. The Frenchman has not been in the best of form of late and might be shown the door in the next season.
Reportedly, Sead Kolasinac, the left back currently playing for the German side Schalke, is one of the prime targets for the Citizens in the upcoming transfer window. The Bosnian international has been an integral part of the German club since his arrival in the year 2012 from VfB Stuttgart. He is a versatile footballer and can be used both as a full-back and central defender.
The Manchester City fans were hopeful that the incoming of Pep Guardiola in the club during the last transfer window will boost their hopes of silverware this season. However, it has not turned out to be as expected and the Spaniard is on his mark to revamp the side in order to avoid any more goof-ups in the next season. Kolasinac has been on the radar of the Manchester City boss constantly for some time now, who might look to include him in his line-up for the forthcoming season.
Manchester City has been facing some serious problems in their defence in the recent times, with a major player like Vincent Kompany missing a chunk of the current season due to his injury. The situation has worsened with an injury concern regarding the English defender John Stones. However, Kompany is back in the lineup and has been playing for last few matches, stabilising the defence to some extent.
Having failed to negotiate terms with the German club after quite a few tries, Kolasinac would be available on a free transfer in the next season. The fact that the Citizens will not have to pay a single penny to rope in their desired candidate for the next season makes the deal much more interesting for Manchester City.
The defender has been reportedly linked with a move to the Gunners as well as Italian club AC Milan for the next season.
