Manchester City have made their way into the Champions League for the next season as well and are now looking to make a mark in the prestigious competition. Their coach Pep Guardiola has been monitoring a number of players during his first season as a manager in the English Premier League and quite a few have caught his eyes. One of them is the young prodigy from Championship side Fulham, Ryan Sessegnon.
The 16-year-old is currently considered as one of the best young players in England and has attracted interests from a number of big name clubs including the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool. Manchester City has also joined the race to bag the English youngster from Craven Cottage to play for them in top flight football next season.
Manchester City did not have a very good season given their high standards in the Premier League this term. Defence has been a major area of concern for The Citizens and has been a detriment in their way of owning a silverware throughout the season. Pep Guardiola is desperate to bring in a good full back into the team during summer who can play for them for quite a long time, and Sessegnon looks to completely fit his bill.
With their 31-year-old left back Gael Clichy being out of contract in the summer, The Citizens will undoubtedly be eyeing someone young and having a great prospect like the English full-back. Reportedly, Manchester City has no plans to offer a new contract to their French left-back Clichy with the French international already confirming his departure from his current club after this season, with Crystal Palace having a keen interest in securing his services.
Sessegnon, on the other hand, has not yet agreed to sign a new deal with his current club Fulham and might be available for the taking in the summer. Apart from Manchester City, Tottenham and Liverpool are also eyeing to bring in the youngster into their team once the summer transfer window is open.
Fulham is also looking to keep the 16-year-old left back with them for the next season, although they might find it very tough to lure the full-back to stay put at Craven Cottage, given the fact that they will be staying in the Championship for the next season as well. Fulham were beaten in this season’s Championship Playoffs semi-final by Reading who will be playing the final against Huddersfield to make it to the top flight football next season.
