Manchester City is looking desperate to get a top class full back in their team for the next season, having problems with their defence throughout the current season. With their regular left-back Gael Clichy out of favour under the new coach Pep Guardiola, Manchester City are looking to bring in Jose Gaya from the Spanish side Valencia.
Jose Gaya has been in good form throughout the current season. Having played a pivotal role in strengthening the Valencia defence, the Spaniard has been one of the main targets for a number of big name clubs including Manchester City’s Premier League rivals Arsenal. Reportedly, the Gunners have also shown a significant amount of interest in the Spanish left back to make him a part of their line-up in the next season.
Manchester City has been suffering from the lack of form of a number of their players along with quite a few in the injury list as well. Their current club coach Pep Guardiola is looking to revamp the side for the next season, bringing in a rush of fresh blood into the team and the Spanish youngster is on the top of his target list.
Jose Gaya has a contract with Valencia that sees him stay with the club till 2020. The Spanish club is under a considerable amount of pressure from Manchester City and Arsenal to let the Spanish youngster move to England but has not been drawn into any negotiation over the future of the 21-year-old.
However, it also depends on the will of the player whether he wants to make a move to England or will stay back in his homeland.
Jose Gaya has been one of the most diligent left backs in the current season of Spanish La Liga, playing a major role in averting attacks from the opponent team players through his clearances and clean tackles. He is a threat from the wing, making darting runs into the opposition half and delivering swift passes and crosses in front of the goal, helping his teammates to score goals. He is also good in aerial duels and can get the ball out of dangerous situations as well score brilliant goals. His long range efforts also require mentioning.
Reportedly, Manchester City is on the trail of the youngster for a significant amount of time to get him in the side for the next season. Present full backs like Aleksandar Kolarov, Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta are all ageing and their future is uncertain with the club in the forthcoming season.
