Liverpool are ready to pull off a move for Lyon hotshot Alexandre Lacazette as the French club are reportedly ready to cash in on him. The French international has been in demand since last season but choose to remain at his current club. But this season the French side are ready to listen to potential offers for him and Jurgen Klopp’s side have a real chance to land the forward.
The French international came through the Lyon ranks and burst into the scene back in 2009. Since then, he has been a valuable part of the Lyon starting lineup and has been contributing in each season with goal after goal. His rise to prominence is the reason why clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool are vying for him.
Staying at the club for this long has helped him in many aspects as he has been able to rectify his weak points which have made him a complete player. The French striker can also play on either wing which is a very rare quality among the top centre forwards.
Liverpool finished the season in the fourth position and will be aiming to do well in the Champions League and for that Klopp needs an out and out fox in the box type striker and the French man is absolutely ideal for him. Lacazette has the flexibility to fit in any formation and should the Reds opt to rope him in he could be placed up front among the three attackers.
Arsenal had been heavily linked with the player but Lacazette’s main criteria of playing in the Champions League cannot be fulfilled by the Gunners as the North London club have not been able to finish in the top four of the Premier League. Arsene Wenger has been an avid admirer of his fellow countryman but current situation puts a long full stop to his much-hyped move to the Emirates.
Lacazette reportedly has a verbal agreement with Atletico Madrid over a possible move and they remain favourite to land the player at the Vicente Calderon. But there is still hope for the English outfit and given Klopp’s expertise in transfers, a deal could be in the offing in the coming days. Daniel Sturridge could leave the club and that will leave Klopp with only Danny Ings and Divock Origi at his disposal. Lacazette’s addition will be pretty fascinating for the Reds as he could be dangerous in their setup.
