Stoke City are having one of their worst seasons so far under the coaching of current manager Mark Hughes. They are currently stranded at the 14th position on the Premier League table and will be looking to make a mark in their remaining fixtures, with the season almost coming to an end.
They have managed to win just one from their last 10 Premier League games, which has reportedly infuriated the fans who want a change in management for the next season. However, the club authority has kept their faith unaltered in Mark Hughes, handing him one more season with the club.
The top management at Stoke City are well aware of the fact that the fans are unhappy with the current state of affairs and are demanding the Welshman be sacked with immediate effect. Despite the agitation, Mark Hughes has been confirmed to be staying with The Potters for another season and reportedly will be handed a war chest for bringing in some good players this summer.
This isHughes’ fourth consecutive season in charge at the bet365 Stadium and it has been nothing less than disastrous for the Welshman and his team in the current scenario. Hughes took charge of The Potters in 2013 and has finished in the top 10 thrice before this season in the Premier League.
Although there have been strong demands for the removal of the Welshman to be replaced by someone new, from almost all corners of their fans base, Stoke City are relying on their current coach, given the fact that he has helped them ensure the ninth position for the last three seasons. However, another insignificant season with him at their helm might be dangerous for the club.
It goes without saying that Hughes has to start strongly in the new season and has to keep the momentum of the early wins going throughout the campaign to regain the trust and praise of the fans. Stoke City made a disastrous start to their current season, having lost seven of their early games. Hughes tried to boost the side on the attacking front by bringing in Wilfried Bony from Manchester City on loan and Giannelli Imbula from Porto but to no great effect.
Reportedly, The Potters will be bringing in a number of new faces with most of the players from the current squad facing an uncertain future, to say the least. But will it be enough for Hughes to turn them into a top club in England?
