Liverpool are having a pretty good season in terms of results this season, almost confirming a place in the top four in the Premier League. With Chelsea having won the title for the season and Tottenham Hotspur avoiding any late goof-ups to seal the second spot, the fight for the last two is supposed to go down to the wire, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool all in it.
The Reds are already looking to make an impact from the very beginning in the next season and are looking to build a formidable side that can take on the very best in European football. For that, they have already started to look for players who have been having a good season in the past few years with their respective clubs. One such player is the Danish defender Simon Kjaer, who currently plays for the Turkish club Fenerbahce.
The Danish defender has been in good form for the last few seasons with the Turkish club and has a towering presence in the Fenerbahce defence. Opponent strikers find it quite difficult to go past him in their urge to score goals. The wily centre back is equipped with the ability to tackle the opposition players very cleanly, thus keeping them from scoring goals.
Simon Kjaer has a vast experience of playing for a number of European clubs like Lille, Wolfsburg and Roma with him, which the Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp thinks will be crucial to strengthen his team’s defence. However, it will not very easy to bring the Danish centre back to Anfield, as reports suggest that French Ligue 1 champions AS Monaco are already monitoring Kjaer and might make a bid to bag him for the next season.
Since joining the club in 2015, the Dane has played a very important role in stabilising the Fenerbahce defence, helping them to win a number of accolades over the past seasons. He has made 66 appearances for his club side, apart from 59 appearances for his national side as well.
Reportedly, current Premier League champions Chelsea are also having a go to make the player wear their colours for the next season. Simon Kjaer has been rated at £10 million, which is not going to be a big problem for any of the team pursuing the centre back to bring him in for the next season.
However, the 28-year old Danish international has reportedly declared that he is happy at his current club. However, he also has not completely denied the chance of moving to a new club in the next season.
