Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are in the ascendency as they have managed to book a place in the Champions League next season. Their next target will be to attract and sign some of the best players in Europe to improve the quality in the squad and the next name that Klopp is looking for is AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The in-demand French midfielder is one of the best players in his position at the moment. He has been a mainstay in the squad at the Stade Louis II and has made more than 50 appearances for the side in all competitions, picking up three goals and an assist from a deeper midfield role.
A strong tackling midfielder who loves to dominate his area, Bakayoko is a player who loves to use his strength and ability to read the game. He is strong in the air and wins almost everything, keeping his centre backs safe, and is also adept at dribbling past opponents in dangerous areas to set his team on goal.
He has also earned his first international cap recently and at just 22, is a star in-demand this summer. The likes of Manchester United and Chelsea are ready to make substantial offers for his services and Liverpool have joined the duo recently.
The Reds have just Emre Can and Jordan Henderson who can play in that position next season with Lucas Leiva expected to quit the club this summer.
Liverpool have been a weak defensive side in the league for some time now and though the likes of Joel Matip have made it a strong link, they are still a work in progress. Klopp will surely add a centre-back to his squad but adding a CDM is going to be as important.
Liverpool need a pivot, which they can play off against smaller sides in the domestic league and Bakayoko can act as the man who shuts shop at the back in such games. His strength and technique will make him another creative player in attack and playing at the biggest stage, he can be the man that dictates play for them in the middle of the park.
At 22, Bakayoko also has Champions League experience and is a player who will probably walk into the first team. His inclusion in the squad can also help Klopp set up in a slightly more attacking manner, with issues at the back resolved to an extent. Liverpool will have to break their record to sign Bakayoko but this is as good a time as any to land a player of his calibre.
